| There is a danger in monotheistic religions. We are told there is one God, and sometimes even told the name of God. Stories of God even include gendered pronouns (almost always He). And so we begin to think of God as a person, someone a lot like us, only with magical powers.
This is a very limited view of God, and I don't think it does us any justice to think of God this way.
Sometimes you meet an atheist (Sri Sri pundit Ravi Shankar once said "An atheist is someone with a concept of God" I might ad, a concept they don't believe in) who says "I don't believe in God, I've never seen him."
I might ask in return, when have you seen anything else?
The Universe IS God, or is at least made of God. The creative force that creates galaxies, and stars and worlds, and everything on worlds, and your thoughts, that is the one creative force that imbibes the entire creation, and it IS GOD.
You can not be seperate from God any more than water can be seperate from wet.
This is not to say that you can not have a personal relationship with the God. Just know that you can not understand God anymore than you can lift yourself up by your own shoelaces, or see your eyes with your eyes (and without a mirror)
And you don’t have to worry about finding God any more than a fish has to wory about finding the ocean.
There is only one force that animates the entire universe. You have never been apart from that force, and you can never be apart from it. The way a wave arises from the ocean, you arise from God. The wave is individual, it exists, it is unique, yet it is always and only one with the ocean. You are real, you exist, you are unique, and you are God, you are of God, a part of God, made of God.
Think about that wave again. Imagine if the wave thought the ocean was a wave. How much more is an Ocean than a wave. The wave is 100% Ocean, and 100% itself. You are 100% made of God, you are 100% yourself, and God is not a person. God is the totality, the potential, and the void, and these words are so inadequate to understand these truth.
Knowing you are God, you are of God, you are a part of God, and you are made of God, drop all worries. What should a wave worry about? No matter what happens to a wave, the ocean is. No matter what happens to you God is.
Imagine a wave worrying about what is going to happen to it when it dies? The wave has always been the ocean. The wave can crash on the shore, and the ocean is still the ocean. The ocean is eternal, giving rise to wave upon wave, that are all the ocean. This analogy is not a complete understanding of God, but know that you are one with God and drop all worries.
Blessings.
